IP & TELEPHONE SYSTEMS
What is VOIP?
VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, technology that allows you to call anyone in the world via the Internet
How does it work?
VoIP converts the analogue human voice into digital data and divides it into groups
of numbers. Then it compresses the data, divides it into packets and sends it to
its destination. Once there, it is reassembled in the correct order and converted
from digital back to analogue - the sound of your voice
What do I need?
In the most basic form a broadband connection with a router and a PC with some suitable
software is sufficient to enable VOIP. However for most businesses the quality
of the call will not be acceptable. In order to achieve standard call quality you
need a service provider like Glemnet to manage the quality of service using suitable
broadband technology and IP Telephony hardware
